What the experts say about SharePoint 2010

I've been labeled a "SharePoint hater" by more than one SharePoint consultant. I snicker to myself every time I think of it :)
The truth: I like SharePoint, I use SharePoint, SharePoint powers our own intranet at Prescient Digital Media.
SharePoint is not everything for everybody and is not a good fit for all organizations. Tell this to an over-zealous SharePoint consultant who has the knee-jerk reflexes of a Jimmy Jones' Kool-Aid convert, and you too can become part of the "SharePoint hater" club.
Seriously though, is the Kool-Aid cherry, orange, or a swamp-water vis a vis Surinam type flavor?
Okay, seriously.... any technology has both strengths and weaknesses; SharePoint is no exception. In fact, it has more strengths than weaknesses (if you can afford it, you are a .NET organization, it meets your business requirements, and have the skills to administer and govern it). Among its many strengths, in my opinion:
· Enterprise content management
· Taxonomy and managed metadata
· Social media
· Integration with Office
· Enterprise search
· Business intelligence
But don't take my word for it, see what the experts have to say: SharePoint 2010: Experts Dish on the Good and Not So Good
